Golf Course Orientation

Golf Course Orientation
On behalf of the Grounds staff I would like to welcome you to Wethersfield Country Club. The staff takes great pride in the maintenance of your golf course and we strive to provide the best possible conditions at all times. There are some requirements that are asked of the members and their guests to help provide the most enjoyable and rewarding playing conditions possible.

Course Etiquette:
1.       Every player is responsible for repairing their ball mark on the green surface and any other they may see.
2.       Every player is responsible for replacing any divots they make (as long as the divot has roots showing). Each cart has a soil/seed box on it to repair any divots that are too shallow to replace.
3.       Every player must enter and exit bunkers from the shallowest point and smooth out their footprints with the bunker rakes provided. We ask that the bunker rake be placed outside of the bunker.
Cart Rules:
1.       Every player is responsible for following the daily cart rules as posted at the Pro Shop. We have many areas that are problems during wet conditions and will be marked with cart control signs. We ask that you heed these signs at all times regardless of posted cart restrictions.
2.       At Wethersfield we try to limit unnecessary signage and rope traffic controls. To this end we place cart control stakes at the approaches of all green complexes. We request that all cart traffic proceed at 90° to the nearest cart path upon reaching the cart post (see picture).

3.       We ask that every player operate the cart with caution and not make sharp or sudden turns. Quick starts and stops, especially on wet turf, will cause damage and should be avoided.
4.       Handicapped flags are provided at the Pro Shop for any player that requires them. We do not have carts that are equipped for travel on greens or tees so we request that the carts not be operated on greens, collars or tees.
Practice Range:
1.       Every player is responsible for adhering to the posted “Woods Only” and “Irons Only” areas.
2.       Every player is requested to monitor their practice ball flights and keep them inside of the practice area. No Balls should exit the facility over the containment netting.
3.       The tee line is moved and serviced daily and all practice must be conducted within the confines of the dedicated teeing area.

Although the grounds staff has been instructed to minimize their impact on play, the nature of our work places us in hazardous situations. Before playing a shot, please make sure that any staff member is aware of your intent and give a warning of an errant shot. This will reduce risk of injury and provide for the well being of the staff members.
By working together and adhering to these requirements, every member and guest should have the best possible playing conditions we can provide.
If you have any questions or concerns about the golf course maintenance, please ask Tim or myself for any information.
Once again welcome to Wethersfield Country Club.

Sincerely,
Allen Woodward
Golf Course Superintendent
